What Andi looks at behind the scenes

Behind the scenes, Andi now reviews what Andi knows about you. That includes your chats, the things you asked Andi to remember, connected accounts like your email and calendar when you have connected them, and what your helpers know, such as job searches, budgets, events and complaints.

When something genuinely useful comes up, Andi checks in with you in your main chat. If there is nothing worth your time, Andi stays quiet.

Think of Andi like a thoughtful friend who keeps your best interests in mind. You do the living. Andi helps you keep track.

What a check in might look like

  • “You have a dentist visit tomorrow morning. Want me to put together what you need to know?”
  • “The reply you were waiting on from your landlord just arrived. Want a quick summary?”
  • “Three new job openings match your search. Want to take a look?”

Keep an eye on this

When you search for something, like jobs, Andi may offer to keep watching. If something new comes up, Andi tells you.

There are no forms to fill out and no settings pages to hunt for. You just say yes.

For example, after you search for jobs, Andi might ask if you want to keep an eye out for new openings. Say yes, and you are done.

Standing instructions in plain words

You can tell Andi things like "every morning, check my email and tell me what's important." Andi gets it done.

You can change, pause or stop an instruction by asking in any chat. That is why the old Scheduled Tasks page is gone. Everything now happens in conversation.

Ready before you ask

Andi can get things ready ahead of time, like drafting a reply or researching your options. Then Andi shows you the result, ready for you to approve.

Andi asks your permission before using your plan's usage for this prep work. So there are no surprises.

Here is what that might look like. Andi notices a friend asked you a question by email. Andi drafts a friendly answer and sends you a note that says, "I wrote a reply for you. Take a look and tell me if you want it sent." Nothing goes out until you say so.

You stay in charge

Andi asks before sending a message, buying something or changing your accounts, and only calls when you ask.

You see exactly what Andi plans to do on an approval card. If the plan looks right, tap approve. Nothing is ever purchased without your approval.

Helpful, not noisy

A good assistant knows when to stay quiet. So Andi is built to keep things calm.

  • A limited number of updates each day.
  • Quiet hours overnight in your time zone.
  • Small things bundled into one daily update.
  • Andi waits if you are in the middle of a conversation.

Andi learns what you like

Tell Andi "stop suggesting that" or "only message me once a day," and Andi adjusts. You can also tap Helpful or Not helpful on an update.

Your feedback helps shape what Andi brings up and how often.

You are in control

You can turn Andi's updates down or off any time. Just tell Andi.

Email updates live in a setting right next to push notifications. You can choose On, Only when I've been away, or Off. On sends you the results of your standing instructions and watches by email. Only when I've been away sends an occasional email if you have not opened Andi in a long while. Off means no email at all.

On every plan

Proactive Andi is available on every plan. Higher plans get a more capable proactive Andi, with more standing instructions.

How we keep you safe

Your trust matters most, so safety is built in from the start.

  • Your data stays yours. Andi does not store your transactions or keep a copy of your mailbox. Things are looked up from the source when needed, and only what Andi tells you is saved in your chat. Our privacy policy also means we never sell your data or use it for ads.
  • Background checks are built to only look.
  • Every action Andi prepares in the background needs your approval of the exact action. The system checks that approval, so a sneaky email or website cannot fake it.
  • Content from emails and websites is treated as untrusted, so a sneaky email or website cannot tell Andi what to do.
  • Links are checked, so Andi only shares real, working links from real sources.
  • You are always in control, and you can turn this off any time.
